Review from Independent Publisher Magazine, Nov/Dec 1999 issue

SPIRITUALITY

We the People Are the Messiah by Deborah and Jack Bartello, Project Enlightenment Press, Mount Shasta, CA 96067; $14.95 paper, 223 pages; 0-9668252-1-7 (1999)

We the People Are the Messiah, as the title certainly portends, is not going to be read and appreciated by everyone. I found it the most exciting and provocative read since the Bible. The theme of this beautifully written account of the authors' journey with Jesus and other "Masters" is one of reincarnation and Karma with the Master Jesus speaking through the authors to the reader in our time. In Jesus' own words, "If any of you are waiting for me to come back, I am not coming. How would that serve? You have already known me well in the physical. I have served, and continue to serve, as a loving role model for you."

The Bartellos share the journey of power and inspiration they took with Jesus and other Masters, and their testament leaves me even more excited about my own journey in this life and toward the next. I read the 223 pages without putting the book down. - Dr. Chris F. Hauge

We the People Are the Messiah by Deborah and Jack Bartello

This inspiring story chronicles the journey of six spiritual explorers who travel back in time to the days of Jesus, and discover that they each have a personal connection to the Master. Unlike other Jesus books, this one has a refreshing twist: it explores the very nature of our emotional wounding. Each explorer in turn becomes aware of the emotional patterns that were formed during His lifetime and that continue to have a stranglehold on mass consciousness. Readers are invited to take their own journeys back, by way of meditation exercises. The accompanying passages, claimed to be from the mouth of Jesus, act like a strobe light in exposing currently held concepts, beliefs, feelings, and assumptions. I was touched by the authors sincerity and by their intention to help clear away old dysfunctional dogma in order to birth the Christ Heart reality, Well-written and beautifully presented, it reads like a message of love. - ASM

We the People Are the Messiah

A Review by Tony Stubbs

Having edited We the People Are the Messiah and worked with the authors, Jack and Deborah Bartello, through several incarnations of the book, I got to know them well, and found them to be a delightful couple. Jesus once told them that Deborah is the "antenna" for divine energies and Jack is the anchor. Together, they make a powerful team and can be justly proud of the book (not that pride is even part of their vocabulary).

The book opens with the authors being cajoled by spirit into accepting an assignment to move to Mount Shasta and open a retreat center. They go through all the self-doubt that plagues anyone catapulted onto a spiritual fast track, especially when Jesus takes them back 2,000 years to when they were his contemporaries.

Next, we are introduced to the Lighthouse, as the center was called, and taken "behind the scenes" of the month-long retreats with fascinating firsthand accounts of participants and the changes wrought in them as Jesus and other Ascended Masters worked to clear away the deeply engrained, ossified emotions and negative connotations associated with Christ. The Sunday School stories will never be thesame after you have read the chapter "Through Jesus' Eyes," in which the authors report on how they merged with Jesus and were taken back to, and relived, his lifetime.

The Bartellos undertook the ten-week Project Lightstar in which they and four "interns" dismantled the old pious overworked Jesus paradigm and co-created the new playful "Christ Heart." In the chapter "Living the Christ Heart" the authors offer twelve deceptively simple practices that allow the reader to reap the same benefits they did.

For me, the climax of the book is the inspirational and stimulating chapter, "Jesus Speaks," wherein Jesus directly addresses the reader. This chapter will rekindle your passion, creativity, and your desire to truly live as "the spiritual giant that you are." Jesus deftly demolishes two millennia of worn out attitudes and platitudes, candidly replacing them with his own refreshing message and mission. His words of devotion, insight, love and wisdom reveal who we are and what we are. In short, here is a path to love, a path that leads to knowledge that we are God, and that we are, indeed, all the Messiah!

Review from James A. Cox, The Midwest Book Review

"We the People Are the Messiah brings a fresh, new and insightful understanding to messianic studies. In addition to their informative "A Note from the Authors" and "An Invitation from Jesus," the authors offer twelve engaging chapters sharing their own spiritual journey and understanding: Restoration to Love; Mount Shasta Beckons; Our Personal Journeys; Project Lighthouse; Participants' Stories: Through Jesus' Eyes; Project Lightstar; The Christ Heart; Moving Through Interference; Living the Christ Heart; The Earth Speaks; Jesus Speaks. We the People Are the Messiah concludes with "Our Closing Message." We the People Are the Messiah is profound, loving, inspiring, timely, and offers a wealth of wisdom, insight, spiritual nourishment and motivation for the reader for embarking on his or her own journey to enlightenment and to joining with, and become one of, the messianic people under the spiritual direction of God."

Book Review By Rev. Bill Kaysing
"Life can be very simple and very beautiful. You only have to do two things: love God and love one another."
I can tell all about this new book in just one word,
LOVE

The love of Christ for his followers and the love passed on by people to others. In this instance, the people are Jack and Deborah Bartello who have authored a book of stunning power and revelation, of freshness and vitality; like no other book that this reviewer has ever read.

It is in two parts. The first part eliminates the negative connotations associated with the usual and accepted image of Christ. The second part reveals Him in all his original and eternal glory.

DISCUSSION

What if it became evident that Jesus Christ was not at all like the image that has been established by organized religion?

What if the Master . . .

Did not die for our sins.

Did not suffer pain on the cross.

Lived a joyful life full of fire, passion and spirit.

If you believed the above statements, how would this change your current personal concept and understanding of Jesus and his work?

Would you have a much better feeling towards Him? Would this information make a great difference in your life?

If so, why not simply believe that the first three items are true and see what happens? After all, the cost is nothing; just a little rearrangement in your neural connections.

Jesus Himself said that all you ever really needed to do was to have faith.

Much of what this reviewer believes to be true about Christ can be found in the stunning new book titled,
WE THE PEOPLE ARE THE MESSIAH

Authored by Jack and Deborah Bartello, it is a breakthrough because it is solidly based on their personal experiences with Him. PERSONAL EXPERIENCES? Yes, that is exactly what I said and what I meant. If you doubt my sincerity all you have to do is read the book for verification. Once you meet this couple through their book, you will be convinced that they have actually made contact with the Master. No one could make up such authentic spiritual presence and prose. Here's just one example:

"Awakening to the Christ Heart is essentially the transition from fear to love. It means taking ourselves off the wheel of fear and ignorance and knowing ourselves as the true masters and loving wise ones that we are. To do this, we need to trade our ignorance for inner knowledge, our fear for love, our helplessness for creativity, our hopelessness for passion. The trade needs to be absolute, the commitment total."

Despite the dynamics of their own prose, be prepared for some shocks when you reach Chapter 12, JESUS SPEAKS. I challenge anyone, Christian, Moslem, agnostic or whatever, to read this chapter and finish it unchanged and uninspired.

Here are passages which blaze with Christ consciousness, devotion to God and a transcendent passion and fervor.

"JOY IS YOUR BIRTHRIGHT. It is our fundamental nature. Simply by being alive you are joy. Joy is God unmasked."

"TRUST YOURSELVES, trust life. Open your heart and keep it open wide."

"DID I DIE FOR YOUR SINS? Of course I did not die for your sins . . . that would place you below me."

"I did not suffer. Not once did I suffer in my lifetime. My spirit was far too free to consider suffering as a way of experiencing anything."

"The word "Christ' refers to your Divinity. This is the sacred substance of which you are made."

"Resurrect yourselves. You are Christ. CONSCIOUSLY BE CHRIST NOW!"

Anything else that I could say after this would be gilding the lilies of the field.

Book Review By Richard Fuller, Senior Editor, Metaphysical Reviews

In May, 1991, authors Deborah and Jack Bartello went on a spiritual retreat on Mount Shasta. Soon they had an unexpected visit from several Ascended Masters, Jesus among them. Suddenly they were transported back 2000 years, to relive their lifetimes with Jesus. We the People are the Messiah tells of their clearing of energy and emotions, opening of their hearts, blossoming of love...an experience that changed their lives, forever.

The Bartello's have given us their magnificent story of discovery...of true love of Self, of community and of service to Self and community. And when Jesus and St. Germain told them it was time to share their experience, they knew it would not only benefit others, but also themselves. Upon coming down Mount Shasta, the Bartello's converted their home to a retreat center...a special place for healing and restoration...with the continued guidance of the Masters.

Indeed, St. Germain said to them, "It is now the moment for you to unfold your spiritual knowing like the carpet that rolls out in front of you. And as you roll it out, you find yourself standing fresh and new in the Light of the day-and every day is God's day, every hour is God's hour, every night is God's night". And so, countless people attended these intensives...learned about the Bartello's experiences with Jesus...and discovered transformation and blessedness.

We the People are the Messiah is an excellent and well-written book for anyone who wants to clear away old attitudes and read about Jesus' true mission, from the Master, Himself. The Bartello's have given us a paradigm of devotion, insight, love and wisdom. This reviewer endorses We the People are the Messiah because it can show you who you are, what you are, and know the truth of the world. In short, here is a path to love, a path that leads to the knowledge that you are God!
